On October 5th, 2013, RESA lost one of our valued members, Karen Dembsky of Atlanta, GA. Karen played an integral role within her local staging community, as well as within RESA. She extended her reach by offering assistance to “new” stagers coming into the industry. For example, Karen established and moderated a group on Active Rain for new stagers where they could learn, share concerns, and ask questions. Karen knew first-hand the specific challenges new stagers faced on a daily basis, and was always there to help and share her wisdom and experience.
In honor of Karen, the RESA Board has approved a scholarship in Karen’s name. The Karen Dembsky Memorial Scholarship for 2014 will be a free entry ticket to the RESA Convention 2014 in Las Vegas. Since Karen’s focus was helping new stagers, the Board has also agreed to limit the scholarship to those who have been in business for one year or less.
Please note, this free ticket covers the expense of the Convention fee only; the winning applicant will still have to provide for their own travel expenses, hotel room, and any other expenses they incur.
In summary, the requirements for application for this scholarship are :
1) Must be in business for one year or less
2) Must have proof of home staging business insurance
