5-time Emmy award winning television personality Cathy Hobbs (ASID) (CathyHobbs) is the founder and creator of Cathy Hobbs Design Recipes™, a boutique style full-service design firm that in addition to executing high-end residential and commercial interiors specializes in affordable design solutions called Design Recipes™, as well as home staging.

Cathy was also a finalist on Season 6 of HGTV’s Hit Reality Series “DESIGN STAR”. A seasoned interior designer, home stager and television personality, Cathy is also the former the Co-Host and Executive Producer of Metro Residential, a weekly television real estate and design series produced by Residential Television Productions LLC, in which she was a co-owner.

Cathy is also a LEED AP, recognized and credentialed by The U.S. Green Building Council for her exceptional expertise and knowledge of Green and Sustainable design. She is also an NCIDQ certificate holder. A graduate of one of the top interior design programs in the country, The Fashion Institute of Technology, her commitment and vision is to make interior design approachable and affordable to all those who seek the services of a professional designer.

In addition to running her growing business, Cathy has nearly two decades of experience as an on-air television news correspondent and continues to make regular television appearances. Cathy has been nominated for nineteen Emmy awards, and is a five-time Emmy award winner. As a noted and sought after interior design expert, Cathy has appeared on the nationally syndicated program, The Nate Berkus Show as well as numerous appearances on Martha Stewart radio.

Cathy is a professional member RESA, the American Society of Interior Designers and the International Interior Design Association, as well as a certified staging professional. Credentialed by Certified Staging Professionals (CSP), Cathy is also one of the top home staging trainers in the country, traveling nationwide teaching real estate staging for CSP to aspiring stagers. Cathy holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, cum laude, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The Marshall School of Business at The University of Southern California. Cathy is also a member of the premier entertainment organization, The Friars Club.

For the past three years, Cathy has been a participating interior designer in the prestigious Architectural Digest Home Design Show, sponsored by Architectural Digest magazine. In 2008, Cathy was one of a select group of designers invited to create tabletop décor for the annual “Dining By Design” event hosted by DIFFA. Cathy was also one of only four interior designers selected for the Condé Nast 2007 Dream House in New York City. Cathy’s family room and office designs of an 1800’s townhouse were viewed by 6,000 attendees.

Considered a trusted industry resource, Cathy is currently a weekly real estate/design columnist for The Epoch Times, an international newspaper. Prior to that, for 2 years, her monthly design column Design Recipes was featured in the luxury monthly tri-state shelter publication The Mann Report. In addition, for 5 years, Cathy wrote feature pieces on real estate and design trends for The Real Deal real estate magazine and continues to be quoted in numerous newspapers and magazines.

Always in search of design inspiration and unique finds, Cathy brings a global perspective to her designs and is also an experienced globetrotter. Cathy has traveled to Cambodia, Thailand, Spain, Italy, France, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Germany, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Hong Kong, Greece, Turkey and Egypt just to name a few. Cathy currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband. In addition to traveling, Cathy enjoys studying languages, painting and is an experienced equestrian.
